Turkish Cargo, a subsidiary of the national carrier Turkish Airlines, has delivered a total of 100 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to more than 35 countries, with more than 250 flights since the start of the pandemic.

Vaccine transport worldwide

Although the airline sector shrank en masse during the COVID pandemic as quarantines forced people to stay at home, the global airline has taken on the vital and important task of delivering vaccines to those in need.

Turkish Cargo has built a global corridor that includes more than 400 destinations. Among these key destinations are Azerbaijan, Serbia, Copenhagen, Rome, Mexico, Turkey, Sao Paulo and Miami. Turkish Airlines CEO Ilker Ayci said in an interview: “As the pandemic poses an unprecedented threat to human health, our Turkish Cargo brand has a significant advantage in combating this threat.” Ayci stressed that thanks to the international air bridges that Turkey has, Turkish Cargo can transport vaccines to more than 100 different countries.

Pharmaceutical transport market

Ayci also said: “Through our successful operations, we have increased our global market share to 7.5% in pharmaceutical transportation and become one of the most active carriers in vaccine transportation.”

2023 Top Air Cargo Band

The expert said that Turkish Cargo made the most of its cold air storage capacities because their priority is medical transport during the COVID pandemic, so they expanded both the passive and active capacity of the containers.

With a fleet currently numbering 371 aircraft, Turkish Cargo flies to over 320 destinations, which includes 100 destinations for direct cargo worldwide. Turkish Cargo is the fastest growing air cargo brand in the world, and the brand’s goal is to be included in the top five air groups by the end of 2023.
